Admission Requirement

Registration Requirements of Master Program

  1. Minimum undergraduate GPA 2,75 in the scale of 4 or its equivalence.
  2. Especially for profession’s graduates (doctor, dentist, nursing, and pharmacist), GPA stated on point (a) is the average GPA of bachelor and profession degree.
  3. Minimum score of 500 for Academic Aptitude Test conducted by UMY postgraduate program.
  4. Minimum TOEFL score of 450 and/or minimum TOAFL (for Master of Islamic Studies) score of 350. If the required minimum score is not achieved during the early registration process, candidates will be accepted as students once they passed the admission test; however before the comprehensive test is done the above required language proficiency must be achieved.
  5. Pass the selection test organized by the Directorate of Postgraduate Program University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta; materials tested are Aptitude Academic Test and English.
  6. Specific re:
    1. Nursing Master Program: must have National Lecturer Identification Number (NIDN) and permanent lecturer Decree
    2. Hospital Management Study Program: executive class must have minimum 2 years work experience.

Registration Requirements of Doctoral Program

  1. Domestic or foreign Master Degree certificate.
  2. GPA of 3,25 from the previous degree. If candidate’s GPA is below 3,25, he/she must submit recommendation letter from the previous lecturer/advisor or from an expert of the related field stating that the respective person is competent to enroll the doctoral program, and/or own a published scientific paper.
  3. Owning English proficiency certified by TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent IELT score, and/or Arabic proficiency certified by TOAFL score of 400. If the required minimum score is not achieved during the early registration process, candidates will be accepted as students once they passed the admission test; however before the comprehensive test is done the above required language proficiency must be achieved.
  4. Proposing research topics appropriate/relevant to their field of study, and are arranged as a framework of research proposal.
  5. Presenting the published scientific paper (for those who have) in the scientific journal standardized by International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).
  6. Enclosing report researches/scientific papers within the latest 5 (five) years in the related field of study (for those who have), preferably those have been published in scientific journal standardized by ISSN or presented in seminars or scientific meetings. Scientific papers may be in a form of articles in scientific journals, books, monographs or equivalent scientific publications.
  7. Pass the selection test organized by the Directorate of Postgraduate Program University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta; materials tested are Aptitude Academic Test and English.

Having passed the exam, submit the document to the study program. Refer to the following procedure:

  1. The print out registration form as evidence of postgraduate program applicants, signed and enclosed with 5 latest colored 4×6 pictures.
  2. Registration receipt from Bank.
  3. Examination Card
  4. Copy of valid and legal diploma from previous degree, certified by the institution issued the certificate.
  5. Copy of valid and legal score transcript from previous degree, certified by the institution issued the score transcript.
  6. The projection of candidate’s intention to enroll postgraduate program, stating reasons, expectations and plans after finishing the study program (format can be downloaded here)
  7. Statement Letter as applicants of postgraduate program,sealed with Rp 6.000,- stamp(format can be downloaded here);
  8. Reference of the payment guarantee from institution or stamped reference conveying a self-reliant finance to cover all tuition for postgraduate program(format can be downloaded here);
  9. Health certificate from doctor of community health center or hospital;
  10. Curriculum Vitae and Work Experience (format can be downloaded here);
  11. Letter of Permission to enroll postgraduate program from institution’s superior/supervisor for those who are currently working (format can be downloaded here)
  12. Letter of Recommendation from University, government or private institution specially required by certain Study Program (consult your Study Program)
  13. For Master Program candidates:
    1. Copy of TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 450 and/or TOAFL (for Master of Islamic Studies) with minimum score of 350.       Note : The certificate is valid for 2 (years) after being issued
  14. For Doctoral Program candidates:
    1. Copy of TOEFLcertificate with minimum score of 500 and/or Arabic proficiency TOAFL certificate with minimum score of 400. If the required minimum score is not achieved during the early registration process, candidates will be accepted as students once they passed the admission test; however before the comprehensive test is done the above required language proficiency must be achieved.
    2. Draft of Dissertation Proposal.
    3. Obtaining 2 (two) letters of recommendation regarding candidate’s academic ability and scientific attitude, given by professor or doctor (former lecturer) expert in the candidate’s desired discipline (format can be downloaded here)
      Note :The certificate is valid for 2 (years) after being issued

*) All required documents are submitted in 2 (two) copies and sent to the intended Study Program.
