Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare visited the Graduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Friday (12/4) in the Director’s Meeting Room on the 1st Floor of the UMY Graduate Building. Accompanied by the Rector, Director, and Lecturers of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare along with 18 of their students, this event was able to strengthen the ties of the Association of Postgraduate Programs of Muhammadiyah Aisyiah Higher Education Institutions (APPPTM).
Not only a gathering, this event also served as a form of learning to improve the quality of Muhammadiyah Higher Education. The Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Siwoyo Haryono, M.Pd explained that UMY also has a strong emphasis on accreditation.
“Accreditation C is forbidden for UMY,” said the Rector, emphasizing the need to actively improve the quality of UMY. We also hope that the Graduate Program will be a reliable place for publications. Lecturers and students must be the backbone of publications. Our target is 200 Scopus publications this year. It’s tough, but we do it with enjoyment and we intend it as worship,” he explained.
“Since long ago, we have known that Yogyakarta is the place to seek knowledge. There are already 5 Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTM) that have been accredited A, and one of them is UMY. That is why we want to learn from UMY, especially regarding institutional improvement,” said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siri Dangnga., M.S, Rector of Muhammadiyah Parepare.
He also hoped that this visit would enable Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare to be accredited A in the future and be able to improve the values that have been achieved, as well as enable its students to write, both in Scopus and other publications.
