Yogyakarta, April 19, 2025 – The Postgraduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) again held Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah Studies (AIK) activities as part of fostering student character and integrity. On this occasion, the theme raised was “Professional Ethics in the Perspective of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan and its Challenges” which aims to equip students with a deep ethical understanding in undergoing future professions.
The activity, which was carried out online through Zoom Meeting, was attended by hundreds of students across study programs as well as lecturers and management staff. This study presented a guest speaker Dr. Med. dr. Supriyatiningsih, Sp.OG., M.Kes as the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Downstreaming, who gave an in-depth presentation on the importance of upholding moral and ethical values in the perspective of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.
In her presentation, Supriyatiningsih emphasized that professional ethics does not only talk about social and legal norms, but also includes spiritual values and scientific responsibility. In addition, the discussion session was interactive with various critical questions from the participants, ranging from ethical dilemmas in the world of work to the role of AIK in shaping professional character. The students welcomed this activity because it was considered relevant to the challenges of today’s world of work.
Deputy Director of the UMY Postgraduate Program, Dr. Titih Huriah, Ns., M. Kep., Sp. Kom, said that this activity will continue to be carried out periodically with actual themes related to character development and student science.
The activity was closed with a prayer together and the participants’ commitment to apply AIK values in their personal and professional lives. (SN)
