Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta’s Postgraduate Program kicked off the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year with an inaugural lecture on Tuesday, October 15. The event, held in the AR. Fachruddin B 5th Floor Meeting Room, was attended by faculty members and postgraduate students, particularly new enrollees. The lecture, titled “Educating 5.0 Era Humans and Global Challenges,” featured Prof. Dr. Adi Atmoko, M.Si., M.Pd, from Universitas Negeri Malang as the keynote speaker.
This public lecture was officially opened by Prof. Ir. Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., P.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng, the Director of the UMY Postgraduate Program. In his welcoming remarks, he extended a warm welcome to the new master’s and doctoral students of the UMY Postgraduate Program.
The event continued with a material presentation by Prof. Dr. Adi Atmoko, M.Si., M.Pd, moderated by Muhammad Syifa Amin Widigdo, Ph.D, the head of the Islamic Educational Psychology Doctoral Program at UMY. In his presentation, the speaker stated, “Mass media is very influential in the world of education today. Mass media can be monitored in family, school, friendship, and religious group environments. Therefore, the role of parents and the education process is very important for human needs in order to be able to apply good habits such as self-actualization, esteem, love/belonging, safety, and physiological.”
After the material presentation, the public lecture continued with an introduction to the UMY Postgraduate Program, delivered directly by the Director of the Postgraduate Program, Prof. Ir. Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., P.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng, and the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the UMY Postgraduate Program, Prof. Dr. Zuli Qodir, M.Ag.
