ISO Camp: Enhancing Postgraduate Quality

Emphasizing the importance of a quality management system, the Graduate Program participated in the “International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Camp” held by the Quality Assurance Agency (BQM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Monday and Tuesday, April 29-30, 2019.

Held at Hotel Cavinton, the event aimed to accelerate the process of preparing ISO documents as well as mentoring by UMY ISO experts, including the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sukamta, S.T., M.T. The hope of this ISO Camp is that the Graduate Program will soon obtain ISO 9001 certification.

“Department heads are important in maintaining standards. Standards and procedures must be followed. Quality is achieved and procedures are also met. We as managers must be fully committed to achieving good quality and that the procedures are also met. In order to improve quality performance, hopefully the UMY Graduate Program will be able to become one of the leading universities in the future,” said Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc, Vice Rector for Cooperation and International Affairs, in his speech.

He also emphasized that the hope of holding this ISO Camp is to improve the quality of the Graduate Program, especially in the works of lecturers and students. For example, 50% of journals can be published and journal publications are increasing.
