As reported on the official website of the Doctoral Program in Management, Dr. Heru Kurnianto Tjahjono, a lecturer in the Doctoral Program in Management, was invited as a guest lecturer at Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) on Tuesday (19/11). Attended by the Rector, vice-rectors, lecturers, and more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students in business and management, this event was a seminar and public lecture entitled “Spiritual Leadership in the Disruption Era”.
The development of disruptive technologies and innovations has caused businesses to grow exponentially, surpassing the growth of general businesses. The main trigger is the development of networks and digitalization in various business sectors. The role of humans should remain the subject in such a massive wave of change. Therefore, Prof. Dr. Heru Kurnianto Tjahjono explained the importance of spiritual leadership as a solution to address the development of industries with such a high level of uncertainty.
“Spiritual leadership makes business actors the subjects of change while also acting as a blessing for life. Humans must remain the primary controllers of change with moral and ethical spirituality as a reference for values in this change,” he explained.
In addition, the event concluded with a friendly gathering with university leaders and discussions about future cooperation that would be beneficial to both parties in order to improve performance internationally.
