The face of Indonesian Islam today and in the future requires continuity while maintaining its moderate character, as well as progress to be able to compete with other nations in the new world order of the very dynamic and complex modern era. Moderate Islam (wasathiyah) with a gentle, peaceful, tolerant, and harmonious face is integrated with progressive Islam that displays awareness of rationality, objectivity, science, technology, hard work, discipline, independence, professionalism, and other 1 values of progress so that the 2 majority Muslim community can be a superior force.

Muslim society must emerge as a modern nation and have centers of excellence as characteristics of an advanced society. In conclusion, the Indonesian Muslim community is not only moderate in character, but must also be progressive, excelling in all aspects of life, so that its presence as a bearer of the mission of mercy for the universe is truly realized in real life on this earth. It is here that the important position of Muhammadiyah as an Islamic movement that presents the role of progressive Islam in Indonesia in entering the 21st century!
