On Tuesday (22/10), the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (PPs UMY) held a Pre-Doctoral Courses class for new Doctoral Program students for the 2024/2025 academic year and continuing Doctoral Program students from the 2023/2024 academic year. This event was held offline in classroom 310 with approximately 30 participants from four Doctoral Programs, namely Doctoral Program in Islamic Educational Psychology, Doctoral Program in Islamic Politics and Political Science, Doctoral Program in Management, and Doctoral Program in Public Administration.
The event was divided into four (4) sessions, each with a different topic. The first session was led by Prof. Dr. Zuli Qodir, M.Ag, the Vice Director for Academic Affairs at the UMY Postgraduate Program. This session focused on the topic “How to Succeed in Ph.D Research.” Prof. Zuli shared his personal experiences conducting research and provided insights into effective research strategies.
The second session, led by Prof. Ir. Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, Director of the UMY Postgraduate Program, focused on ‘How to Avoid Research Misconduct’. Prof. Sri highlighted the imperative of rigorous adherence to the standardized procedures and norms within the academic realm to safeguard research integrity. Through his presentation, he elucidated the ramifications of research misconduct and outlined pro-active strategies to mitigate such occurrences.
Moh. Syifa Amin Widigdo, Ph.D conducted the third session, providing a comprehensive overview of ‘Academic Writing Skills for Ph.D.’ The fourth session, ‘Strategies for Journal Publication in Ph.D.’, was presented by Prof. Erna Rochmawati, Ph.D. As a culmination of the event, Prof. Erna offered invaluable guidance to participants on how to select suitable journals for their research.
