Emphasizing the importance of research, especially in the social sciences, the Graduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) once again held the event “Seminar on Enhancing Research Capacity for Lecturers and Students of the UMY Graduate Program.” The event today invited Lamidjo Sansidi, S.S., M.Phil, as a speaker and was held in the UMY Graduate Program Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the Integrated UMY Graduate Program Building (29/7).
“Social research is very important because it is useful for controlling society, especially in Indonesia. If there are no researchers to provide guidelines for society, then the problems that exist in society may not be solved. In fact, many foreign researchers use Indonesia as a social research object, but rarely do we ourselves dive into that realm,” said Lamidjo Sansidi, S.S., M.Phil, when delivering the material.
He continued, the dynamics of Indonesian society are very fast, therefore social researchers are useful for controlling, predicting, and showing what trends exist in Indonesia. When we can master the local language, then we will be able to dig as deep as we want the data we want.
