In this study, Siti Syamsiyatun, as the speaker, explained the treatise of progressive women with 7 main characters and 10 commitments from the results of the 48th Aisyiyah Congress. The Treatise of Progressive Women was formulated because: 1) the spirit of the birth of ‘Aisyiyah is based on the fundamental values of Islam about the equality and advancement of women in the midst of limited access for women, 2) the dynamics of ‘Aisyiyah for more than a century which has been driven by women, 3) various ideological documents of the organization about women that were compiled according to the demands of the times. The 7 characters in question are Faith and Piety, Devotion to Worship, Noble Character, Innovative Thinking, Moderate Attitude, Righteous Actions, and Inclusiveness. With 10 Commitments, namely Mastery of Science and Technology, Environmental Preservation, Strengthening Sakinah Families, Community Empowerment, Progressive Philanthropy, Peace Actors, Public Participation, Economic Independence, Nationalism, and Universal Humanism.
Siti Syamsiyatun hopes that all students, in addition to studying Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan, will also become progressive students in terms of intellect and knowledge.
At the end of the study, Siti Syamsiyatun gave a message to all participants, “Living and being religious for Progressive Women is a dynamic field of self-discovery and service. In the process, Progressive Women are expected to choose to side with messages of goodness, mercy, and ishlah as contained in the Qur’an in the understanding of Muhammadiyah.”
