Yogyakarta, March 7, 2025 – In order to enliven the holy month of Ramadan 1446 H, the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a recitation and iftar together on Friday (07/03). The event took place in the Amphitheater of the Postgraduate Building 4th Floor and was attended by leaders, lecturers, and education staff in the UMY Postgraduate Program.
The activity began with a speech by the Director of Postgraduate Program, Prof. Ir. Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., P.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng. The Director of the UMY Postgraduate Program in his remarks expressed his hope that activities like this could continue to be preserved as part of strengthening Islamic character in the campus environment.
The activity continued with a recitation delivered by Ustadz Gita Danu Pranata, S.E., M.M., Deputy Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership of Yogyakarta Special Region. In his lecture, Gita reminded the importance of interpreting Ramadan as a time to strengthen faith, increase social care, and strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah, especially in the academic environment.
After the recitation, the event continued with breaking the fast together which was warm and full of intimacy. Various iftar dishes were served to all invited guests, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and kinship that characterizes Ramadan activities at UMY.
This joint recitation and iftar activity is part of the UMY Postgraduate annual agenda during the month of Ramadan, as well as a means of establishing friendship between academic institutions. (SN)
