In response to the abundance of fake news, the HIPM Study Program at UMY held a webinar titled “New Trends in Media”

As published on the official website of the International Relations Master’s Program, the International Relations Master’s Program (HIPM) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a webinar on the theme of New Trends in Media. This online event took place via Zoom on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

“There has been a shift in media trends from traditional news reporting through newspapers, television, and radio to digitalization through the internet,” explained Nikos S. Panagiotou from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, during his presentation. Nikos S. Panagiotou added that in the digital age, the spread of false news or hoaxes is a possibility. To address this, we should try to believe in media reporting and continue to seek further information about the news through more reliable sources.

The webinar was attended enthusiastically by participants from start to finish.
