On Wednesday, March 6th, the Graduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held a pre-Ramadan religious gathering as the first event of this year’s Ramadan agenda. All lecturers and staff members of the Graduate Program were invited to attend this event. The series of Ramadan activities this year will also include weekly religious gatherings, communal breaking of fast, and will conclude with a Syawalan (post-Ramadan celebration) event organized by the Graduate Program.
For this initial gathering, M. Syifa Amin Widigdo, Ph.D., delivered a lecture on the theme “Fasting and Progressive Piety.” The event was conducted in a blended format, both offline and online. The offline session took place at the 4th-floor Amphitheater of the Graduate Program, while the online session was held via Zoom Meeting for lecturers who were unable to attend in person.
