The 9th National APPPTMA Conference: Reinforcing the Quality Standards of Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions

The Association of Postgraduate Programs of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities (APPPTMA) has once again held its 9th National Conference. The event, which was attended by 179 participants and 50 Muhammadiyah managers, was held at Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) on Saturday, December 14th. The series of events of the national conference consisted of a national seminar themed “Humanization of Science and Technology”, APPPTMA coordination meeting, journal critique, and a city tour.

The Executive Chairman, Mokhamad Najih, explained that participants were required to create scientific papers. The results of these works will later be published as output in proceedings or journal articles. According to Najih, there are currently 132 scientific papers that have been submitted. As a result of the reviewer, the number of papers filtered out 88 papers that passed plagiarism, and 32 were stated to still have problems. So, 56 papers were successfully passed to be published.

“We in the association this year have created a standard quality that is patented for Muhammadiyah University and continue to improve the quality of Muhammadiyah universities. So papers that do not meet the standards do not qualify. Because in managing, we must have clear quality standards. We cannot just graduate students. What we need is for these documents to be living, not dying documents. The more students we accept, the more output we will have. Therefore, we need good planning. We in the Association strongly urge Muhammadiyah universities to always get the best accreditation results. Don’t let them get a C, because if there is a study program that gets a C, then PTM will no longer be superior,” said the chairman of APPPTMA, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc.

The conference presented four speakers from APPPTMA members, namely Jamaluddin Ahmad from Muhammadiyah University of Sidenreg Rappang (Sidrap) and Ribut Wahyu Eriyanti from Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM). Then Adi Mansar Lubis from the 1 University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra and Muhammad Azhar from Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY).
