“Trends and Issues in the Banking Industry in the Era of Industry 4.0 Revolution” and Academic Regulations Socialization

In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, humanity has encountered a new paradigm as technological disruption occurs at an unprecedented pace, threatening the survival of long-standing companies. This is characterized by cyber-physical systems. Industries are increasingly venturing into the virtual realm, connecting humans, machines, and data in a pervasive network commonly known as the Internet of Things (IoT). The Fourth Industrial Revolution emphasizes the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence, giving rise to supercomputers, intelligent robots, autonomous vehicles, genetic editing, and neurotechnology that enhance human brain function.

“Digital technology has revolutionized every aspect of life and given birth to a new civilization. To thrive and survive in this environment, companies must become increasingly agile to avoid being left behind by consumers. We must continuously innovate (revolution, renewal, resilience) or risk the slow demise of our businesses,” emphasized Santoso Rohmad, S.E., MM, CEO of PT Bank BPD DIY, during the Inaugural Lecture for New Graduate Students of the UMY Graduate Program for the Second Semester of the 2018/2019 Academic Year on March 28th, 2019, held in the Fourth-Floor Meeting Room of the UMY Graduate Building.

In addition to the inaugural lecture, the event also included explanations regarding the academic process, resources, and student affairs by the Deputy Director of the Graduate Program, Prof. Dr. Siswoyo Haryono, MM., M.Pd, and Dr. M. Nurul Yamin, M.Si.
