As published on the official website of the Master of Law Program, Yordan Gunawan, an alumnus of the Master of Law Program who is now a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, has become a spearhead in supporting Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA) throughout Indonesia to reach the international level and face global competition. This is the goal of the Association of International Affairs Offices (ASKUI) of PTMA throughout Indonesia by holding a workshop and a general meeting held on September 27-29, 2019, at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya, thus he was elected as the chairman of the Association of International Affairs Offices (ASKUI) PTMA of Indonesia for the 2019-2021 period.
When met on Saturday (5/10) at the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Yordan explained that during the election process, he was appointed by acclamation as the chairman of the Association of International Affairs Offices (ASKUI) PTMA of Indonesia and the elected vice-chairman, Dr. Eka Airlangga from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU). The event was also attended by more than 60 heads of international affairs of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Universities throughout Indonesia.
Yordan explained that supporting and increasing the capacity of PTMA in the middle and developing clusters, especially in the eastern and westernmost regions of Indonesia, where access to transportation is still hindered and difficult. Therefore, cooperation from PTMA throughout Indonesia is needed to jointly develop and realize campuses with international reputations. For Yordan, internationalization is very important to be encouraged, both for national and international rankings. Therefore, PTMA needs foreign staff and foreign students, both full-time and exchange students. This will also be a target for Yordan to develop in the future.
Yordan also said that in any case, campuses with middle and developing clusters need extraordinary support, both in terms of financial needs and human resources, access to information, and so on. “With this, it is hoped that PTMA throughout Indonesia can carry out internationalization evenly and without obstacles, and with easy access to information,” he concluded.
