On Friday, November 11th, the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (PPs UMY) held an Islamic Studies and Muhammadiyah Studies (AIK) session for its students. This AIK session is a regular activity organized by PPs UMY for all postgraduate students. This 5th AIK session was the first to be held offline at the 4th-floor Amphitheater of the Postgraduate Program.
In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the UMY Postgraduate Program, Dr. Zuly Qodir, M.Ag, encouraged PPs UMY students to get used to attending on-campus activities to become more familiar with the UMY campus environment.
The AIK session was divided into two sessions with two different speakers and themes. Although the AIK session was held offline, PPs UMY still provided an online platform for students who were outside of the Yogyakarta Special Region.
The first session of the AIK was opened by Prof. Dr. Sunyoto Usman, M.A, with the theme “Muhammadiyah & National Political Roles.”
The second session of the AIK featured Ahmad Norma Permata, M.A., Ph.D, a lecturer at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, with the theme “Muhammadiyah & Just Nation-Building.”
The second session’s theme was chosen by the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the UMY Postgraduate Program, Dr. Zuly Qodir, M.Ag, to commemorate the 48th Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Congress held on November 18-20, 2022, in Surakarta.
