The Graduate Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) held an Academic Seminar on Saturday, November 11th. UMY invited Associate Professor Dr. Zawawi bin Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Universiti Malaya, as the keynote speaker. This seminar was specifically designed for UMY’s Master’s and Doctoral students, as well as lecturers assigned by their respective study programs. The seminar focused on the theme “Strategy for Enhancing Academic Writing & Improving Academic Atmosphere in Postgraduate Program.”
In his presentation, Dr. Zawawi stated that upon graduation, students have three options: first, to simply graduate; second, to graduate with pride in their university; and third, to graduate while bringing pride to their university and enhancing their own quality through their writings. He also emphasized the benefits of writing, including receiving feedback, gaining citations and H-index, and increasing visibility through publications in databases like WOS, Scopus, Academia, and Google Scholar.
